Life Artistry

I wouldn't say I have a lot going on in my life at the moment, since I know people who have actual problems instead of my full DVR and not knowing what I am going to do on Halloween.  I have had some stuff going on, however and those events have filtered their way into my writing.  Just today I watched this show on Netflix called "Rise of the Hackers".  It was a Nova episode mainly about the stuxnet virus.  If you don't know what that is you should use The Google and find out because it's cool and scary at the same time because it was coded for one purpose, but now it's just out there and may or may not start doing other stuff.  Seriously, it would be a great cyber crime plot.  That's why I now want to add that aspect into my next book.  I mean I already have a hero who is a human supercomputer and another one who makes living video games, so a cyber crime aspect would be pretty cool.  I know enough about coding to be able to come up with something interesting, I think.  This changes everything I have been outlining so it's back to the blank page.
As I mentioned in a earlier post I am putting together a collection of short stories about the SOE characters that has nothing to do with the overall storyline, it's just fun.  I've written a couple now and they are pretty funny, if I do say so myself.  I'm a humorist at heart so this is coming much easier to me and I'm having fun with it.
So that's what is up with me.  Just needed to check in because they say if you don't blog you die.  That seems a bit dramatic to me, but whateves.

Trilogies are Good for a Reason

I've always been told that a story needs a beginning, middle and an end, and that's why it seems that trilogies work so well.  Of course the best example is Star Wars, the original 3.  They gave us a beginning to get to know the characters, the middle to really hit us with the storyline and then the end.  It worked.  I didn't want to do this, but I also don't want to just keep writing stories on and on without going anywhere.  So, I've come up with a trilogy outline and have started on book 2.  It will be in the mold of Empire Strikes Back, but not on an Ice Planet and no Cloud City.  Hopefully sometime in early 2016 or so...we'll see.
For those of you who see this blog post on goodreads.com, thanks for adding the book and please leave a review on goodreads and amazon when you finish the book.
