The Suddenly Evolved

I'm using a lot of words to say...

Good evening everybody, and by everybody I mean the 1 follower of this blog so far (thanks Yertle).

Today was a VERY long day at work and in fact I am still working while I also try to plug away at meeting my End of July self imposed deadline.  It's actually looking pretty good.  I have a couple more chapters planned out and then the big boss fight which I hope that I can get to be long enough to give you all something that has some heft to it.  It's not going to be a George RR Martin length book, but I'm hoping for something around the Hobbit.

I really enjoy writing dialogue.  It gives me a chance to get my characters to say exactly what I would want to say if I was in that situation.  It also let's me expand on who the characters are without just coming out and saying it.  I really dislike when authors tell us who the characters are rather than allow us to figure it out.  I try to give a little bit of column A and a lot of column B.  The chapter that I am writing right now introduces 2 characters and I have really enjoyed writing them.  One is a creature of pure logic, in the vein of Data more than Spock, while the other is a very devout joyful giant.  I've been trying to avoid using contractions with both of them and I think that is going to end up in the hands of my editors.
During this long weekend I really hope to get some writing done and also find time to read what I've already written.  I haven't really done that yet.  If that happens you'll either get a long post about how energized I am, or a long post about how distraught I am.  Either way, it'll prolly be long!
Thanks again for reading this blog and I hope to have a story for you soon!
Literally Yours,
Pauldo
P.S.  I'll tell the story about how I became known as Pauldo some time and that'll be a reason for you to keep reading periodically.
